Meet the 2017-2018 International Student Advisory Board!

Tong Jin | Student leader

Tong comes from China and is currently a master's student in the Higher Education Administration and Policy program in the School of Education and Social Policy. Prior to Northwestern, she obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire. She enjoyed her four years of teaching experiences and discovered her passion for engaging with students in higher education. Tong is currently a graduate assistant in the International Office and serves as a student leader at ISAB. She is passionate about international education and is dedicated to working with other ISAB members to enhance international students' experience at Northwestern. In her spare time, she loves watching movies, traveling, and reading 
Vy Duong

Vy Duong

Vy is a freshman in the Medill School of Journalism. She was born and raised in Vietnam before coming to UWC Costa Rica which was an incredibly diverse college. Vy is thrilled to be a part of our new ISAB and cannot wait to help enrich NU international students' experience. 
Aryaman Gupta

Aryaman Gupta

Aryaman is a freshman in McCormick studying Industrial Engineering. He is from Kolkata, India and is currently involved in Northwestern University Dance Marathon (NUDM) and the Northwestern Equestrian Team on campus. 
Dhanashree Kharate

Dhanashree Kharate

Dhanashree is originally from India. She is currently a master’s student in Information Technology. She obtained her undergraduate degree from VJTI Mumbai in Electronics Engineering. She enjoys singing, listening to music, and travelling. 
Shaleila Louis

Shaleila Louis

Shaleila is a fourth-year student studying Learning and Organizational Change and Psychology. She is from Mumbai, India, and previously lived in Singapore. She is extremely passionate about the international student experience and doing her best to make sure everyone she meets feel heard. On campus, she serves on the Wildcat Welcome Board of Directors to help bring together Northwestern's orientation program, train student leaders, and support first-year students, and is an active member of two Greek organizations. You can always find her watching soccer, making music, catching every movie, or eating breakfast foods for every meal. She loves both cats and the ‘Cats! 
Christopher Muhoozi

Christopher Muhoozi

Christopher is a sixth-year graduate student studying the 19th and 20th-century intellectual history of Uganda. He came to Evanston from Uganda where he was born and raised. Christopher is passionate about the visibility of international students and pays much attention to international students’ interests and challenges at NU. In recent years, NU has experienced an increasing number of students from Africa; many of them asked him questions about life as a student at NU, which prompted his interest in serving on ISAB. Christopher enjoys traveling, watching movies, and playing lawn tennis. 
Anqi (Angela) Qu

Anqi (Angela) Qu

Anqi is a graduate student in the Master of Science in Communication. She was born and raised in China and came to the U.S since 2014. Through the International Student Advisory Board, she hopes to provide useful resources to international student community to help them better adapt to the life at Northwestern University. She is excited to work with her fellow ISAB members to increase the visibility of the international community. 
Izabela Samek

Izabela Samek

Izabela is a fourth year graduate student in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Northwestern. She grew up in Krakow, Poland and moved to California to pursue a bachelor's degree at UC San Diego. She wants to share her experiences with other international students to make sure they are taking full advantage of the opportunities available to them. Her hobbies include intramural sports, cooking and exploring craft breweries. 
Muhan Song

Muhan Song

Muhan Song is a first-year student in the Master of Science in Project Management program. He loves geopolitics, sociology and basketball. He was born in China. He sold an Internet company he founded before he came to Northwestern University. He is excited to be involved in IASB and wants to serve international students at Northwestern University. 
Simon Song

Simon Song

Simon is a JD student in the Pritzker School of Law. Since graduating from high school in Chengdu, China, he has lived in the U.S. for most of his adult life (college + graduate school). Simon is passionate about foreign languages, from Sanskrit to Latin, French to Japanese. As a law student, he likes reading, watching legal dramas, and helping others. He is eager to serve the Northwestern international students community. 
Changfu Sun

Changfu Sun

Changfu is originally from Beijing, China and is a sophomore undergraduate student studying math and economics. She spent years in Brussels and really cares and want to contribute to the international community. She likes cooking and music and is constantly seeking new challenges for herself. 
Tania Vargas Aguero

Tania Vargas Aguero

Tania is from Paraguay, known as the heart of South America. She is a Fulbright-Becal Scholar and is pursuing a Master's degree in Project Management (MPM) at NU. She loves to sing and play volleyball and is currently working as a student photographer on campus. Tania considers human interaction as the key to development. Because of that, after she graduates, she wants to work on projects with a social focus in her country, Paraguay. For Tania, being part of ISAB represents the bridge to help other international students and look for more visibility for Fulbright students at NU. 
Franca Yang

Franca Yang

Franca is originally from China. She studied Broadcast Journalism in undergrad and now is pursuing her master's degree in Communication. She is passionate about social justice and how technology changes human interaction. She is a big tennis fan and likes to play piano.
