Each summer, from 2012-2017, Northwestern hosted 30-40 business and economics students from Northwestern's partner institution Bocconi University in Italy. In this program Bocconi Campus Abroad, lLectures and seminars were taught by both Bocconi and Northwestern faculty members and included history, politics, economics, and business-related topics.
A different theme served as the focus each year. Students also took part in opportunities outside of the classroom, such as touring downtown Chicago, visiting the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade, and participating in company visits and networking events. In their free time, students experienced American life and explored more of both Chicago and Evanston.
Northwestern also has an active exchange program with Bocconi, which is offered through the Office of Undergraduate Learning Abroad, which offers Northwestern students the opportunity to enroll directly at Bocconi University for a semester or a full academic year, and take classes with local and international students. Students participating in the exchange program can take classes in management, finance and international economics.
