As Assistant Director of Multicultural Student Affairs, JT is responsible for managing, developing and accessing programs and activities focusing on Leadership and Education offered by Multicultural Student Affairs. In this capacity JT is primarily responsible for the Real Talk Series and other skill building workshops, Community Discussion Groups, and Queer and Trans* Empowerment Month. They are also the interim supervisor for our Graduate Assistant working with Asian American, Asian, and Pacific Islander students. JT provides advising to students and student groups on navigating university resources and connecting them to campus partners. JT has served at Northwestern since the summer of 2015.

Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, JT earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a master's in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University. JT returns to the Midwest after serving in Residence Education at The University of Connecticut.  At UConn, JT co-created a social justice student leadership position as well as advocacy group for Trans*/Gender Non-Conforming students, facilitated social justice trainings and campus-wide programming, and advised multicultural student organizations. JT has served on ACPA’s Commission for Social Justice Educators Directorate Board, as well as presented at conferences on student identity development, social justice education, and Trans* experiences. In their spare time JT enjoys being outdoors, reading books and blogs, and exploring Chicago with friends.
