Benefits Value Advisor (BVA) is a service provided by BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois for University faculty and staff. A BVA can assist you in finding providers and scheduling appointments, as well as help you compare costs at different providers for the same medical service and help you with pre-certification. Simply call the number on the back of your BCBS member ID card.
Fidelity has launched a new financial wellness program available through their NetBenefits online portal. The portal has evolved into a financial wellness portal where employees can get the specific help and information needed to help manage finances. Resources about paying down student loans and credit card debt, mortgage refinancing, will and estate planning, and much more are available!
The program is available to all faculty and staff with a Fidelity account. If you have a Fidelity account, you can login and fill out your financial wellness profile to get started. You will also receive an email from Fidelity this month with additional information about the program.
Flu shots are available at no cost for all faculty and staff.
If you are unable to attend a flu shot clinic and are insured through a University sponsored health plan, you can receive a free flu shot at a local pharmacy or doctor's office with proof of insurance.
YourLife and the Work/Life & Family Resources team have partnered with the Employee Assistance Program to provide this seminar. Ellen Burton will discuss recognizing the signs of burnout, avoiding burnout by effectively managing stress, developing a support system, setting goals and maintaining a positive attitude.
Human Resources' YourLife and Retirement teams have collaborated with Fidelity to provide this workshop.
A Fidelity professional will help attendees understand taxable estates, how assets can be distributed, estate planning, wills vs. probates, powers of attorney, the importance of a living will and health care proxy, establishing a trust, beneficiary designations, and gifting and insurance replacement strategies.
Join YourLife Wellness Champions for a weekly 30-minute walk this fall. The groups will meet each Tuesday through November 27. This no-commitment, no-judgement group is open to all faculty and staff.
Join YourLife for meditative practices on Tuesdays with Elizabeth Tuckwell in Chicago and on Fridays with Eric Budzynski in Evanston. The benefits of meditation include reducing stress, improving concentration and increasing happiness. No previous experience is necessary. All are welcome.
Sign up for a one-on-one consultation with Vicki Shanta Retelny, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), to discuss strategies for eating a balanced diet, planning meals and grocery shopping. Vicki will assist you with setting realistic nutrition goals and provide motivational tips.
