Director for Administration and Information Technology
Brian Druley provides oversight of the administrative operations and business affairs of the Health Service, which includes: budget/finance, human resources, purchasing, facilities management, and the healthcare information technology needs of the Health Service. This includes the areas of Administration, Patient Accounts, Patient Support Services, Health Information Management Services, Pharmacy, and Radiology. He also has responsibilities for managing accreditation, regulatory compliance, and serves as advisor to the Student Health Advisory Committee.
Prior to his current position at the Health Service, Brian has held positions at Northwestern with Alumni Relations and Development, Human Resources, and Northwestern University Library. He completed his bachelor’s degree in communications from Elmhurst College.

Assistant Director for Administration
Jessica Ernst (Jessi/Jess, she/her or they/them) began working at NUHS in February 2018 as an Administrative Assistant before becoming the Assistant Director for Administration in June 2019. In this role, Jess assists executive leadership with large projects like program review and accreditation, acts as the lead application administrator for Patient Support Services, provides financial and staff support for the department, and oversees NUHS social media. She has a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in Communications from DePaul University.
Before coming to Northwestern, Jess worked in community health care providing programming, education, and support around sexual and reproductive health. She is motivated by improving access to care for people with marginalized identities, especially queer and trans folks. Outside of work, you can find Jess taking classes at Glenwood Dance Studio, overcommitting to lengthy novels, tasting wine, or spending time at home with their partner, dog, and 3 cats.
Jeff Butler joined the Health Service in June 2010, first as a temporary employee with Patient Accounts, then full-time into his position as Administrative Assistant in November 2010. His many responsibilities throughout the department include everything from bills to bandages and braces. In 2014 he was honored to join the Student Affairs Professional Development Committee and help facilitate strong programs for the division staff.
Having moved up to Chicago from Texas in 2007, he began working with Northwestern University as a temporary employee that fall. He had earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an English minor at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas and is now married and living in Evanston. Jeff continues his creative education with various comedy classes (including at Second City), cinema screenings at the Music Box Theatre, and other opportunities that enhance his artistic pursuits.
