Northwestern University Health Service, including three satellite sports medicine clinic sites, is currently accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and has held accreditation continuously with the AAAHC since 2000. The Health Service was previously accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations in its various forms from 1963 to 2000. The AAAHC surveys the Health Service every three years and the current term of accreditation expires in July 2021.

The accreditation process represents many mechanisms to help ensure the highest quality of patient care and services are provided to the student population served by the Health Service. Through periodic assessment, monitoring, and quality assurance processes, the Health Service strives to fully comply or exceed the applicable accreditation standards of the AAAHC.
