Provost’s Letter on Updated FAQs About SEIU Election
July 1, 2016
Dear Colleagues,
This message is to provide you with an update regarding the non-tenure track faculty SEIU election. The NLRB mailed ballots to eligible voters’ home addresses on file with the University this past Monday, June 27. Please keep an eye out for your ballot in the mail. If you believe you are an eligible voter and have not yet received a ballot please let us or contact Maria Guerrero at the NLRB at (312) 353-0329. We want to ensure that all eligible voters have the opportunity to make their voices heard on this important issue, and therefore encourage all eligible voters to cast their ballots. In order to count, ballots must be received in the NLRB’s office by the close of business on July 18, 2016.
I also wanted to let you know that we have updated our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to address questions we have received regarding the SEIU, union dues and the potential impact of unionization. The updated FAQs can be found at: http://www.northwestern.edu/faculty-union/faqs.html.
Others of you have asked about the SEIU’s constitution and bylaws, which are also posted at: http://www.northwestern.edu/faculty-union/docs/SEIU-constitution-bylaws-2012.pdf.
Lastly, I would like to thank you for your dedicated service to the University and its students, and we wish you a peaceful and restful holiday weekend.
Daniel Linzer
Provost
