The Relaxation Response

While useful for our caveman ancestors, the fight/flight response isn't helpful in the workplace, grocery market, or sitting in traffic. Accumulated stress can be more than unpleasant, it can be harmful to your health. Henry Perkins explains a simple breathing exercise that can be used to trigger the relaxation response and leave you feeling better and less stressed. Perkins is coordinator of the Stress Management Clinic at Northwestern Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).
