If You Test Positive

You should review the Procedures for Positive Cases so you are familiar with what happens if you test positive.

If your test results come back positive, a member of Northwestern’s COVID Response Team will reach out to walk you through next steps. Regardless of one’s vaccination status, all individuals testing positive for COVID-19 must self-isolate. Unvaccinated individuals identified via contact tracing will be asked to quarantine until the recommended CDC clearance timeframe has been met. Fully vaccinated individuals or those who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past three months who are identified via contract tracing will not be required to quarantine. Any individuals who are identified via contact tracing who develop symptoms will be asked to test for COVID-19 at specific intervals to rule out the presence of a COVID-19 infection.

In the event that you receive notification of a positive result prior to hearing from the COVID Response Team, please immediately begin to self-isolate pending further guidance and email us at covidcasemanagement@northwestern.edu. Please note that the Case Management Hotline number is no longer active. All cases are managed directly through email.

If you are a visitor on campus who tests positive, please leave campus immediately and return home to isolate.

If at any point you require emergency medical attention, call 911 to access the most local emergency services.
