Commencement Day Checklist

There are also a few things to take care of on Commencement Day - Friday, June 22. Here is the beginning of your "day-of" checklist:

  • Take a Shuttle to the Stadium. Shuttles from campus to Ryan Field begin at 7:45 a.m. (Shuttle map) and gates to Ryan Field open at 8:00 a.m. for your guests (Stadium map). Lines for shuttles can get long, so plan accordingly by arriving earlier than you think you need to.
  • Consider the Weather. Be conscious of the weather and what that may mean for your wardrobe. Be sure to wear sunscreen. Encourage your guests to be mindful of weather as well.
  • Wear Comfortable Footwear. Wear comfortable footwear, as you will be walking and standing for long periods of time. If you choose to wear heels, consider bringing a pair of flats for comfort.
  • Be on Time. Students should arrive at Ryan Field by 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 22.
  • Line-Up and Processional. The Processional will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m.
  • Students in The Graduate School, School of Professional Studies, and Weinberg line up in Trienens Hall (northwest of Ryan Field).
  • Students in Bienen, Communication, Education and Social Policy, Kellogg, McCormick, Medill, or NU-Qatar should enter Gate E of Ryan Field (east side of the stadium) to line up. View the Processional Map.
  • Keep These Things at Home. The following items are prohibited at Commencement and will be confiscated by University staff: alcohol, coolers, cans, and food, long lens and video cameras, musical instruments or noisemakers, umbrellas, or weapons. Individuals not complying with the directions of University staff may be asked to leave the ceremony.

In the event of rain, Friday’s ceremony will remain outdoors, and guests and participants are advised to prepare for the weather.  In case of severe weather visit the Logistics FAQ page.

For those of you participating, we hope you're enjoying everything Senior Week has to offer for you this year. For more information, visit the Senior Week 2018 Facebook Group and find the full schedule of Senior Week events on the Senior Week web page.
