As Assistant Dean of Students & Director of AccessibleNU, Alison is responsible for implementing the mission and vision of the office and her Dean of Students colleagues, which includes promoting universal design for learning throughout the University. She also provides academic coaching to students, and, in collaboration with students and faculty, determines reasonable accommodations and services. She has loved serving in the AccessibleNU Center since 2007, and most of her work has focused on partnering with colleagues to raise awareness of disabilities as a form of diversity and to enhance web accessibility.

Prior to Northwestern, Alison taught and directed programs supporting first-generation-college, low-income, and students with disabilities at Oakton Community College and Columbia College Chicago. Alison received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Dartmouth and her Ph.D. in Communication Sciences & Disorders from Northwestern. In her free time, she enjoys reading and researching interventions geared towards improving students’ well-being.
