Peer-Leader Application Information

We are thrilled you're considering joining ASLA's team of peer leaders. Peer leader applications can be submitted throughout the year. All applicants must be available for the full academic year when they are a peer leader in order to be considered for the position. 

ASLA recruits new peer leaders during the winter and spring quarters preceding the academic year. The deadline for the 2023-24 academic year has passed, but interested students are still welcome to submit applications.

What is the application process?

To be considered for the position, all applicants must

  • submit a fully completed application
  • meet grade requirements (B+ or higher in courses you wish to lead)
  • attend an interview

What is the interview process?

Typically, interviews are 1:1 over Zoom, and last about 20 minutes. Interviews are conducted by ASLA staff and current peer leaders. 

What is the selection process?

Applications for the 2024-25 academic year will be reviewed during the last two weeks of February, 2024.

ASLA staff will read all complete applications and extend invitations to applicants. Final decisions will be made by May 1, 2024.

What are important dates to keep in mind?

All newly hired peer leaders are expected to attend the following mandatory trainings:

  • New Peer-Leader Orientation, Saturday, May 4, 2024
  • Fall Peer-Leader Orientation, Monday, September 23, 2024

You can submit your course-specific programs application here. The peer leader application is thorough, so we recommend you take your time completing it. The general outline of the application is as follows:

  • Background information 
  • Program commitment (program interest, availability, transcript submission)
  • Open-ended and scenario-based questions

What is the application process?

To be considered for the position, all applicants must

  • submit a fully completed application
  • include NU staff or faculty reference information 
  • attend an interview

What is the interview process?

Interview format for next recruitment cycle has not been finalized yet.
