Withdrawals & Refunds

Northwestern Programs

Refund policies are available on the financial, withdrawal and cancellation policies page.

Affiliated and Unaffiliated Programs

As indicated in the Northwestern Global Learning application's student agreement, all fees besides the Northwestern Study Abroad Administrative Fee (SAAF) are set by the program and students are bound by the program's billing, withdrawal, and refund policies.

If a student withdraws or is dismissed from the program, refunds of tuition, program fees, and deposits will be made according to the policies of the program and not according to the Northwestern programs refund policies or the standard Northwestern refund policy applied on campus.

If Northwestern suspends student participation on a program due to health or safety concerns, Northwestern will make reasonable efforts to obtain refunds for recoverable program costs to the participants but cannot guarantee any refunds. Unrecoverable program expenses (e.g., pre-paid tuition, airline deposits, pre-paid excursion expenses, housing fees or reservation deposits, etc.) generally cannot be refunded.

All costs or penalties related to withdrawal or dismissal from a study abroad program are the student's responsibility. Financial aid and loans are not available to cover these costs.
