Subway (the "L")


Be sure to get a transfer when you pay your fare. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA/elevated/"L") train provides transit service to downtown. There is an "L" stop at the airport.
  1. Take the Orange Line to the Lake Street stop.
  2. Go down to the street level on State Street and walk a block and-a-half south to the Washington street subway station.
  3. Take the stairs down to the underground station and take the northbound Red Line to Chicago Avenue station.
  4. Walk five blocks east on Chicago Avenue to Fairbanks Court.
  5. Turn right on Fairbanks Court. You are now entering Northwestern University's Chicago Campus. Refer to the campus maps to find specific locations.
