Orbitz for Business
Northwestern University now has access to one of the largest travel providers and one of the most familiar online booking tools in the world. This new partnership will help NU manage travel costs, reduce transaction fees, and streamline travel booking processes.

Direct Bill Hotel Reservations Guide (PDF): Follow these steps to bill hotel bookings directly to your chart string.

Updated International Process
In order to prevent fraudulent purchases, Orbitz for Business now restricts international bookings made within three days of departure. This policy applies only to international flights billed directly to the University. Orbitz will prevent users from purchasing new airfare or modifying existing reservations if the scheduled flight time is in less than 72 hours.
- If you need to change an existing international reservation within three days of departure, please call Orbitz at 312-469-1956.
- If you need to book a new international trip within three days of departure, you may either use another approved travel agency or book using your personal credit card by calling Orbitz at 312-469-1956.
This process update helps ensure a secure purchasing environment for all users while affecting very few travelers.
If you have students or part-time employees who need access to Orbitz for Business, please fill out columns A-P of this Excel spreadsheet. The completed form should be sent to Jeff Levin at email@example.com. Please note that you can put more than one student/temp employee on the form and access rights can be assigned for as long as three years. Do not move or delete columns on the spreadsheet. After the form is reviewed it will be loaded into Orbitz. Please call Jeff at 1-5993 if you have any questions.
If you want this person to be a travel arranger let us know if they will be booking for persons only in Orbitz or also those who are not in Orbitz. Additionally, we need you to state that you will let us know when this person no longer needs access to Orbitz so we can remove them from the system.
Travel 100 Group and Intra World Travel Customers
Travel 100 Group and Intra World Travel will continue to be included in the travel program as agent-assist options for departments and schools. Only Tower Travel/Compass will be replaced by Orbitz for Business.
Tower Travel Customers
Tower Travel is no longer an NU Preferred Vendor and Compass, its online booking system, is not available for NU travelers. If you have an existing reservation, Tower Travel will continue to be your travel provider until the completion of your trip. Tower Travel will also continue to handle the redemption of any unused tickets you may have with them and be able to bill your chart string through December 25, 2013. After that you will need to use a personal credit card.
