Saferide (Evanston campus escorts)
On the Evanston campus, SafeRide is available for all Northwestern
students, faculty and staff members. The service is provided during the academic year
(when classes are in session) seven days a week from 9:00 PM - 2:30 AM (8:00 PM start when daylight savings time is not in effect). In addition to covering the
entire Evanston campus, SafeRide service boundaries extend North to Central
Street, West to Ashland Avenue and Green Bay Road and South to Oakton Street. For additional information call

To request a SafeRide escort, call 847-491-7000 and provide your name, Net ID, your pick-up location, destination (address /
intersection) and receive an estimated time of escort arrival from the dispatcher.

University Police (campus escorts)
University community members may also contact University Police at 847-491-3456 (Evanston) or
312-503-3456 (Chicago) to request safety escorts on foot or with a bike patrol officer to
on-campus locations. Squad car escorts are also available on the Chicago campus. Please note, there may be a waiting
period for escorts as the result of concurrent Police related activities.

"Purple Express" and "Purple Route" (Evanston campus) Shuttles
To protect your safety at night, the "Purple Express" and "Purple Route" shuttle buses
operate on the Evanston campus during the Fall, Winter and Spring quarters. Schedules are
posted at all designated stops throughout the campus. With the exception of scheduled
school breaks, the shuttle services run nightly at regular intervals during operational

SafeRide (Chicago campus shuttle)
SafeRide is a FREE shuttle service for anyone displaying an active WildCARD ID, unless
you take it to the train station, which requires you to present a shuttle ticket to the
driver. SafeRide operates Monday - Friday (excluding designated University holidays)
7:10 PM - 1:30 AM. The SafeRide shuttle schedule stop times are approximate and may
vary due to weather conditions, traffic and number of riders. For SafeRide schedule

Intercampus Shuttle
The Intercampus Shuttle runs year-round Monday through Friday, excluding University
Holidays, between the Evanston and Chicago campuses. There is no charge for the shuttle
service, however you must present your Northwestern University Wildcard ID when boarding
the shuttle. All buses are wheelchair accessible. For additional
