Violence Prevention

The “Shots Fired on Campus” video is a part of our overall prevention, preparedness, and response plan for incidents of extreme violence. Other components include the Campus Violence Prevention Plan, Campus Violence Prevention Committee, Emergency Response Framework and the Behavioral Consultation Team (threat assessment). The "Shots Fired on Campus" video provides the individual community member with critical guidance on how to recognize and survive an active shooter situation.  The video does not provide specific instructions on what to do in every situation; instead it provides the viewer with options and encourages the viewer to develop a “survival mindset.”  The Center for Personal Protection and Safety is responsible for this instructional DVD and training program designed to empower students with knowledge and strategies for preventing and surviving an active shooter situation.
