Strong Arm Robbery

On April 29, 2008, at approximately 2:15 pm, a non-university person was the victim of a strong arm robbery in the area of Central Street and Jackson. The offender punched and pushed the victim to the ground then took the victim's purse. The offender fled the area. A search for the offender by Northwestern University and Evanston Police Department units proved negative.
The offender is described as an African American male, 18 - 22 years old, height - 5' 9", weight - 165 lbs, wearing a baseball hat with a red brim and a black or gray shirt.

Evanston Campus, 4/20/2008
On April 20, 2008, at approximately 1:50 am, a female Northwestern student (walking with 2 other students) had her purse snatched while walking in downtown Evanston near the intersection of Church Street and Oak Avenue. The offender approached the students and asked for directions. He then grabbed the student's purse and fled on foot. No weapon was displayed and the students were not injured.
The offender is described as an African American male in his early 20's, height - 5' 9" to 6'0, weight - 180 to 190 lbs, and wearing baggy clothes including a black and white hooded sweat shirt with a repeated pattern on it.

Residential Burglary
Evanston Campus, 4/8/2008
On April 8, 2008, at approximately 12:30 pm, a female Northwestern student was the victim of a residential burglary in her apartment located in the 1600 block of Ridge Avenue. The victim reported to Evanston Police that she awoke in her bedroom to see a subject standing in her bedroom doorway. The subject directed the victim to walk to the bathroom. Once the victim was inside the bathroom, the subject secured the door using an electrical cord. The victim waited until the subject had left the residence, managed to escape from the bathroom and notified the police. The victim was not injured. The victim and her roommates reported items missing from the apartment. The Evanston Police requests that anyone with information concerning the incident contact the Investigations Bureau at 847-866-5040.
The Offender is described as an African American male, 30 - 40 years old, height - 6' 0 ", weight - 170 lbs, build - stocky, and wearing a a black hat, black jacket and black boots.

Evanston Campus, 4/6/2008
On April 6, 2008, at approximately 4:50 am, a female Northwestern student was robbed by 2 men near Bobb Hall on the Evanston campus. The student was walking with another student when 2 men approached them, displayed a handgun and demanded their purses. One of the students gave them her purse. As the other started to do so, the purse strap broke. The men took the first student's purse and fled the scene. The students were not injured.
Offender # 1 is described as an African American male, 18 - 20 years old, height - 5' 9", weight - 150 lbs, build - medium, and wearing a white hooded sweat shirt and dark pants. Offender # 2 is described as an African American male, 18 - 20 years old, height - 5' 8 ", weight - 155 lbs, build - medium, and wearing a black jacket and dark pants.

On March 7, 2008 at approximately 9:35 pm, an armed robbery occurred at the 7 Eleven located at 817 Emerson. The offender entered the store and implied he had a weapon. he removed currency from the cash register and fled the scene.
The offender is described an African American male in his 30's, height - 6'0, weight - 200 lbs , build - stocky, wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and black gym shoes. The offender was also described as having a deformed eye.

Two female Northwestern students were the victims of a robbery and battery
Thursday night in the Burger King, 1740 Orrington Ave. in Evanston. At
approximately 9:05 p.m. Feb. 14, 2008, the two students were in the women’s restroom when two women entered the restroom and confronted the students. One of the women punched one of the students and attempted to take her purse. The two students resisted and one of the women used pepper spray to spray both students. The two women then took one of the student’s purses and fled the scene.
The victims were not seriously injured and did not require medical attention.
One offender was described as a black female, approximately 18-20 years old, medium build, black braided hair and wearing a dark jacket. The other offender was described as a white female, approximately 18-20 years old, heavy build with a tattoo on her neck, braided hair, wearing a dark jacket.

A female Evanston resident reported being the victim of a purse-snatching. The
victim reported that the incident occurred on January 31, 2008 at 2:30 PM, at
the intersection of Sheridan Road and Chicago Avenue.
The victim reported that the offender pushed her to the ground, took her purse
and fled southbound on Chicago Avenue. The victim sought medical treatment, but was not seriously injured.
The victim could only describe the offender as a white male, wearing blue jeans and a jacket (color unknown).

A male Northwestern student was the victim of robbery Saturday night in the rear
of an apartment building in the 1600 block of Ridge Avenue in Evanston. At
approximately 11:45 p.m. Jan. 12, 2008, the student was standing an alley behind
an apartment building there when two men approached him. One of the men demanded
money. The student gave him his wallet. The man then tried to punch the student,
but the student ducked the punch and ran north in the alley. Both men fled on
foot south.
The student was not injured and did not require medical attention.
One offender was described as white, approximately 21 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, medium build, light complexion, brown curly hair, thick eyebrows, wearing a blue shirt and jeans. The other offender was described as African-American, approximately 21 years old, 6 feet tall, thin build, dark complexion, wearing a bright orange shirt with a sports logo and blue jeans.
The student’s wallet was recovered shortly afterwards in the alley nearby with everything in it except for a small amount of cash that had been taken.

A female Northwestern student was the victim of robbery Thursday night in the rear of an apartment building in the 1700 block of Ridge Avenue in Evanston. At approximately 11:30 p.m. Nov. 1, 2007, the student was walking there when two men stopped her. One of the men displayed a silver-colored handgun and demanded the victim’s purse. After taking the purse, both men fled on foot north.
The student was not injured and did not require medical attention.
The offenders were described as African-American males in their early 20s, approximately six feet tall, with slim builds and wearing dark clothing.

A female Northwestern student was the victim of robbery early Sunday morning at
the corner of Church Street and Maple Avenue in Evanston. At approximately 1:45 a.m.
Oct. 21, 2007, the student was walking when three men stopped her at that
intersection. One of the men displayed a silver object that looked like a gun
and said, “Give it to me.” She gave the man her purse and the offenders fled north toward an apartment building on Church Street.
The student was not injured and did not require medical attention.
The offenders were described as African-American males in their early 20s. Two wore black shirts and one wore a yellow and blue shirt.

Chicago Campus, 9/24/2007
On Monday September 24th at 12:30 p.m., construction workers returning to the Rubloff building loading dock observed 2 individuals outside the open dock acting suspicious. The workers also observed a third individual walking from the dock area carrying a tool box. The workers challenged this individual at which time the 3 individuals fled and entered a brown Chevy Celebrity, license plate unknown, which was parked near the dock. Another worker approached the vehicle and challenged the offenders at which time one offender pointed a handgun at the worker telling him to move away from the vehicle. The worker complied. The vehicle left the area traveling northbound on inner Lake Shore Drive. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
The 4 offenders are described as: an African American male, mid 40's. approximately 5'7", heavy set with a stocky build, short grey hair, wearing a yellow t-shirt, blue jeans and white gym shoes (*displayed handgun*); the 2nd offender was an African American male, age 40 - 50, approximately 5' 7", average build, short black hair, wearing an unknown color shirt, blue jeans and white gym shoes; the 3rd offender was an African American male, age 35 - 40, approximately 6' 0", medium build, black hair wearing an unknown color shirt, blue jeans and white gym shoes; and the 4th offender was an African American male, age 40 - 50, approximately 5' 7", medium build, wearing an unknown color shirt, blue jeans and white gym shoes.
Northwestern community members are reminded not to put their personal safety at risk when confronted with weapons or threats of violence. As soon as it is safe to do so, community members should notify the Northwestern University Police Department or the Chicago Police Department of the incident providing a detailed description of offender(s), any vehicle involved and the direction of travel.

Evanston Campus, 7/29/2007
Three female former Northwestern students were robbed in the vicinity of 715 Foster Street at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday July 29th. The victims were approached by two offenders. One offender displayed a handgun and demanded the victim's purses. The victims complied with the offenders. The offenders then fled south bound in the alley east of Sherman Avenue. The victims notified the Evanston Police Department who, with University Police units, conducted a search of the area with negative results.
The offenders are described as an African American male, late teens, approximately 5'10" with short cropped hair wearing dark clothing and an African American male, late teens, approximately 5'5" with short cropped hair wearing dark clothing.
Northwestern community members are encouraged to remain alert when traveling on or off campus, especially at night, and to immediately report any suspicious persons and circumstances to University Police at (847) 491-3456. In the case of an emergency, dial 911.
