FORD CENTER GROUNDBREAKING

Northwestern and Ford Motor Company representatives last week broke ground for the $30 million Ford Motor Company Engineering Design Center. The 75,000-square-foot building, which will be located just south of the Technological Institute, is expected to be ready for occupancy in fall 2004. From left to right are John R. Birge, dean, McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science; Bill Gantz, McCormick advisory council member; Richard Gilbert, information technology manager, telematics, Ford; Anne Stevens, vice president, North American assembly operations, Ford; Henry S. Bienen, president, Northwestern University; and Charles Wu, director, manufacturing and vehicle design research lab, Ford. (Photo by Jim Ziv)
