A HOLE IN THE STREETERVILLE SKYLINE
Demolition of Passavant Pavilion on the Chicago campus is complete, leaving a space (foreground) in the Streeterville neighborhood’s skyline and making way for construction of The Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center of Northwestern University. The building site is bound by Fairbanks Court, Superior Street, Huron Street and Prentice Women’s Hospital. Initial construction activities involve replacement of an existing water main along Superior Street and driving steel sheeting around the site’s perimeter. The project is managed by Northwestern’s facilities management design and construction department. Turner Construction will carry out the project, which is scheduled for completion in 2004.
