Feinberg Commencement is May 20

Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine will hold graduation ceremonies at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, in the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom.

Renowned cardiologist Eugene Braunwald, M.D., will be the keynote speaker at the graduation. Braunwald is Hersey Distinguished Professor of Theory and Practice of Physical Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

He recently was named a master of the American College of Cardiology, honoring his 50 years of groundbreaking research in heart failure, coronary artery disease and heart attacks.

The Feinberg School class of 2005 includes 167 students who will receive an M.D. degree, including six who will receive a combined M.D./Ph.D. degree.

A majority of the class (53) will enter a residency program in internal medicine. Fifteen students will begin postgraduate training in pediatrics; 11 in anesthesiology; nine each in general surgery and orthopedic surgery; 10 in emergency medicine; and six obstetrics and gynecology.
