EVANSTON, Ill. --- The Northwestern University Dance Program
has scheduled a special dance event designed for families.
A “Children’s Introduction to the Dance,” for
youngsters aged 4 and up and their families, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday,
March 6, at the Josephine Louis Theatre, 20 Arts Circle Drive,
Evanston campus, will be held in conjunction with “Danceworks
2004,” an annual showcase of the finest choreography of the
University’s Dance Program.
The children’s dance event will include demonstrations
and excerpts from most of the dances featured in “Danceworks
2004” that will be performed by the show’s cast.
The Saturday morning program will be organized around a central
theme and feature dances that will illustrate the idea. During
an interactive segment, children and parents will be invited to
explore some of the movement ideas from their seats. Two of the
featured sections will include tap and African dance. The informative
program will be moderated by dance faculty member Susan A. Lee.
“The children’s event is geared to deepen their interest
in live dance performances in a family friendly environment,” said
Lee.
