The Media Relations Group and the Broadcast
Group work together to achieve visibility in the
media for academic and administrative units (except for
the Kellogg School and Athletics and Recreation), with
emphasis on Chicago and national media.
The Media Relations Group obtains print
coverage by identifying opportunities in breaking news
and trend stories and by placing news, features, and faculty
opinion essays in newspapers, magazines, and other publications.
The Media Relations Group also produces the Northwestern
Observer, the faculty and staff newspaper.
The Broadcast Group places faculty experts
discussing breaking news or University research on local,
national, and international television and radio programs.
The Broadcast Group also oversees movie, commercial, and
special filming projects on campus and produces public
service announcements and Northwestern Newsfeed, a radio
actuality service featuring faculty commentary.
Both groups are involved with public relations planning
for special events, crisis public relations, and strategic
planning in public relations.
