Leadership Matters and the Fall Leadership Education Seminar
Beginning fall 2008, Leadership Matters (Comm_St 395) is a required course for the Northwestern University's Academic Certificate in Leadership. In this for-credit class you will hear from industry leaders and attend hands-on sessions. Additionally, as a graded component of the course, you will undertake a community connections project with a group of 6-10 students. The course takes place on Thursday evenings from 5-8 pm.
For a limited time, the Leadership Education Seminar (Gen_Cmn 206) will be offered in conjunction with the Leadership Matters course. In this not-for-credit course you will hear from industry leaders. This takes place from 6:30-8 pm on Thursday evenings. This option is only for students who have already begun the Leadership Education Seminar in the past and have not finished. Students enrolled in the Leadership Matters class need not enroll in this.
Please note: The Leadership Education Seminar is no longer offered in the winter.

Speakers are on Thursday from 6:30-8 pm.
Expect to ask plenty of questions. Each speaker talks for about 30 minutes, so the majority of the session relies upon your participation. When thinking of questions, keep in mind particular leadership challenges you face that, if handled well, would help you become a better leader. For example, how can you effectively act as a change agent, influence others, solve problems, take risks, put your values into action, and work with and lead diverse teams? This is an opportunity for you to shape your leadership development through the questions you ask. At the end of the event, you will answer a few reflection questions. |
