Rooms

As part of its ministry, UCM maintains five single rooms on its upper floor for Northwestern University students. Each room is furnished with basic furniture (bed, chest of drawers, desk and chair) and occupants share one of the two upstairs bathrooms. Residents also have access to the kitchen and resident refrigerator on the main floor, and use of coin-operated laundry. Each resident has a limited area for storage of personal items in the basement. A parking space can be rented for an additional fee. The UCM Center is equipped with DSL service and ethernet jacks in each resident room. The house is also wireless. The house is secure, comfortable, and near the center of the campus.

Life together

Life together for residents at UCM values cooperation and a Christian spirit. Student residents have the opportunity to explore ways to develop a community centered on Christ and are encouraged to explore ways of cooperation with each other, of being involved in some UCM student activities, and sharing a few housekeeping jobs. A ``health-first'' policy provides an environment that is free of smoke, alcoholic beverages, illicit drugs, and firearms. Once a month, residents gather with the campus minister for a house potluck supper.

Cost

Residents make monthly utility/maintenance shared-cost contributions that are lower than dorm rates (and most apartment complexes in Evanston), plus a small fee if a car space is used. Contributions are made by the last working day of each month for the following month. A non-refundable security deposit is made when an application for residency is approved. This amount will be returned minus any damage costs upon move-out.
