Events at UCM

DINNER AND INFORMAL WORSHIP

Every Sunday at 5:30 we share dinner and worship. Dinner is home-cooked and served in the living room of our house. After dinner, we gather in the living room for an informal worship service. This is a time for sharing, singing, prayer, and listening to the words of scripture.

DISCUSSION GROUP

Each quarter we create weekly small groups around topics that are of interest to us. Groups generally meet one evening a week for about an hour. One group is usually a Bible Study, and other groups cover all topics, ranging from gender issues to seminary discernment. All views are equally accepted and openly discussed in an honest way.

FUN

Sometimes we just want to hang out! UCM plans lots of social events that give us an opportunity to develop friendships with each other. We have movie nights, Halloween/Christmas/Valentine's Day parties, barbecues, and game nights at the house. We also head off-campus to movies, the theatre, restaurants, and more!

SERVICE

Each year, in partnership with Alice Millar Chapel, UCM sponsors a global mission trip during spring break. Groups of UCM students have traveled to Guatemala, Haiti, Cuba, El Salvador, and Russia--just to name a few. While we usually do a small service project, these trips are friendship missions that server both us and the communities we visit.

RETREATS

Retreats and conferences are important and relaxing breaks from school which help us refocus our lives. They are also great bonding opportunities. In the fall we typically go on retreat as a UCM community, and in the spring we join other campus ministries from the midwest at the Midwest Student Christian Gathering at Lake Geneva.
