NU powers down in support of Earth Hour

Northwestern University is continuing its participation in Earth Hour, a global initiative to raise awareness about climate change.

On Saturday, March 29 from 8:30 to 9:30 pm, individuals and businesses across the world will turn off their lights and other unneeded electronic items to reduce energy consumption and demonstrate that in working together, we can make a difference. NU will join with others across the region to conserve as much electricity as possible in symbolic support for the environment. This will be the sixth year the Evanston and Chicago campuses have participated in Earth Hour.

Faculty and staff should be extra conscious on Friday, March 28, to ensure all electronics are unplugged and lights are turned off for the weekend. Students should shut off all electronics before leaving campus and participate in Earth Hour wherever they are over Spring break!

Eco-Reps will host an Earth Hour event during Earth Week (April 20-25) to engage students in conserving energy and to promote sustainability at NU.
