Helping Evanston nonprofits keep cool

Between the Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse, McGraw YMCA, Youth Organizations Umbrella, Inc. (YOU) Evanston, and Family Focus, Inc. more than 400 high-functioning portable air conditioners were distributed to Evanston families and organizations.

"Our hope is to always repurpose items that are still usable and find people that could benefit from their use," Recycling and Refuse Manager, Julie Cahillane stated. "We were happy to connect with local organizations and get the portable air conditioners to local families."

This effort was made possible through the collaboration between Cahillane, Steve Matz, Director of Facilities and Construction for Residential Services Administration, Tim Heneghan, Associate Director of Housing for Residential Services Administration, and Bill Owens, Executive Vice President of Midwest Moving and Storage.
