Turn it off and celebrate Earth Hour March 23

Earth HourNorthwestern University is continuing its participation in Earth Hour, a global initiative to raise awareness about climate change and to demonstrate that in working together, we can make a difference. This year, the theme is "Uniting People to Protect the Planet" and on Saturday, March 23 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., the world will voluntarily turn off their lights and other unneeded electronic items to reduce energy consumption. NU will join with others across the region to conserve as much electricity as possible in symbolic support for the environment. This will be the fifth year the Evanston and Chicago campuses have participated in Earth Hour.

Faculty and staff should be extra conscious on Friday to ensure all electronics are unplugged and lights are turned off for the weekend. Students should shut off all electronics before leaving campus and participate in Earth Hour wherever they are over Spring break!
