Green Cup is a wrapmonth). At the eight diverse and educational Green Cup events, there were over 446 attendees and more than 350 students took the Green Pledge.
“We were thrilled with the amount of engagement and energy and water reductions this year, and hope students will continue these habits throughout the year,” stated Students for Ecological and Environmental Development (SEED) Green Cup chairs Danny Ginzburg and Rebecca Glaser.
In the first Off-Campus Green Cup Challenge, nearly 60 students participated with over a dozen teams registering. Team Beach House, made up of Kristin Palarz, Rachel Scholes, Nisha Nataraj, and Meghan Kubic came in first place. Lizzy Conger, Erin Carney, and Sofi Porter-Castro came in second as team Narina, and the SunflowerSeeds came in third, including Chelsea Corbin, Bridget Gibbons, Helen Li, and Linda Corbin. Off-campus students received points by attending Green Cup events, taking pictures of “sustainable” activities, and posting pictures on the NU Green Cup Facebook page.
Green Cup wouldn’t have been possible without support from the Division of Student Affairs, Facilities Management, Students for Ecological and Environmental Development (SEED), Northwestern Interfraternity Council (IFC), Institute for Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern (ISEN), the Office of Sustainability, Eco-Reps, and the Northwestern Sustainability Fund (NSF).
