evanston logoThe City of Evanston and the Office of Sustainability has partnered with the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Community Challenge to reduce community energy usage in homes and small businesses. For each account enrolled before April 20, Nicor will earn their city $50 towards the possible $25,000 prize. The money will be used to implement an energy efficiency upgrade for a local non-profit organization. The first 100 residents to sign up will receive five free Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs).

Simply sign up for EnergyBUZZ, a free online tool that helps track energy use to save money and earn rewards for the energy-efficient choices. EnergyBUZZ provides simple steps to reduce energy consumption. The program offers rewards that can be redeemed for coupons and incentives at local businesses. To receive the five free CFL’s, bring proof of registration to room 4700 on the fourth floor of the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave. (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5 pm).
