students in classroomIssues in sustainability cover the entire academic spectrum, and numerous departments offer classes that examine these complex topics. NU’s interdisciplinary classes and programs span earth and planetary sciences, economics, entrepreneurship and innovation, law, management, materials science and engineering, philosophy, political science, and more. Since the first Institute for Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern (ISEN) course was offered in 2009, more than 1,500 students have taken one or multiple of the ISEN course offerings.
