Study Abroad Transcripts
Upon return, complete the following steps to ensure that your study abroad credit is transferred:
- Make sure that your program sends an official copy of your study abroad transcript to the Northwestern Study Abroad Office (630 Dartmouth Pl., Evanston, IL 60208-4195).
- Wait patiently for the transcript to arrive. Usually, it takes foreign universities about two months to send the official document. If your credits have not been posted on CAESAR after two months, contact your study abroad program to see if they have sent the transcript.
Note for Barcelona Consortium fall returnees: It can take up to three months for the Consortium to receive official grades from UPF, UB and UAB. Expect your study abroad transcripts to arrive at NU between March and April.
Note for King's College returnees: Please be aware that King's College has an examination board which must ratify grades before releasing transcripts. Due to this requirement, it may take 4 months or more for transcripts to arrive after your term abroad. - Once we receive your official transcript, we will make a copy for our files. After you have submitted a program evaluation (required) and internship/ISP paper (if applicable), we will forward the original to the Office of the Registrar.
If you would like a copy of your transcript, we would be happy to make one for you. To obtain an official transcript, please contact the sponsoring institution of your study abroad program directly. Neither the Study Abroad Office nor the Office of the Registrar issues official transcripts from study abroad.
