As you conduct your research
on study abroad programs, one way to narrow them down is to
think about the kinds of academic subjects that you hope to
study abroad and then to find out which of our affiliated programs
specialize in those subjects. We have tried to help you with
this latter task by creating the documents listed on the left
navigation bar. Please click on the links of the subjects that
interest you.
We are always in the process of creating even more of these
documents on other subjects. For now, if you are interested
in a subject that is not listed, you have two options, and we
encourage you to do both.
- Make an appointment to meet with a study abroad adviser,
who may be able to advise you on which programs would best
meet your needs. You can do this by emailing
the Study Abroad Office.
- Use the study abroad search engines listed below to identify
programs. Keep in mind, though, that many of the programs
that these searches bring up will not be Northwestern affiliated
programs. (To view our affiliated list, click
here.) If you become interested in an unaffiliated program,
please carefully review our policies and procedures for
applying
to an unaffiliated program.
Study Abroad Search Engines
The best resources for researching study abroad programs in
general (not just Northwestern-affiliated programs) are the
comprehensive study abroad program books, Academic Year Abroad
and Peterson's Guide to Study Abroad, as well as the various
study abroad program search engines on the Internet. The books
are available in the Study Abroad Office Resource Library,
which is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. The Internet
search engines are as follows:
Institute
of International Education
Peterson's
Education Center
University
of Minnesota Learning Abroad Center
