Specific Program/Language Requirements:

Northwestern Requirements for this program: In an effort to promote immersion in the UK University system, Northwestern students are required to live in University campus housing whenever possible. Therefore, Arcadia will place you in University housing if it is available. You will only be placed in Arcadia housing if University housing is full.

Arcadia Program Requirements:

  • 3.3 GPA + solid background in subject areas in which you wish to take courses
  • For Pre-med program, a 3.5 GPA (at least) and plans to go to med school are required

 

Program Description:

Popular with students because of its central London location and long and distinguished reputation, King's College is known for its academic quality in the biological and health sciences, humanities, and physical sciences. The Department of War Studies, unique among UK institutions, offers courses in public policy and international relations.

 

Academic Specialties of this program:

War Studies (Politics, History, and International Relations focusing on war, peace, and conflict resolution), History, Theology, Biology, Pre-Med, English (majors only), Comparative Literature, European Studies, Classics, Education, Math, Music (King’s + Royal College of Music), Philosophy, Geography (Environmental & Development Studies)

Direct university enrollment facilitated by Arcadia University.

  • Special programs in Pre-med (extremely competitive), Intelligence & International Security (full year students only) and English/Drama (for English majors).

  • If you are considering studying abroad during your final year at Northwestern, please be aware that King’s College has an examination board which must ratify grades before releasing transcripts. Due to this requirement, it may take 4 months or more for transcripts to arrive after your term abroad. Since Northwestern cannot award any credit for study abroad until the official transcript has been received, this may make it difficult to complete your Petition to Graduate in a timely fashion.

Application Requirements for this Program:
  1. All study abroad students must complete the mandatory Study Abroad 101 Quiz on Blackboard.  Call (847-467-6400) or e-mail studyabroad@northwestern.edu (include your name and net ID) to be registered for this quiz.
  2. After completing the 101 Quiz with a score of 90% or above, students can pick up the Northwestern University Application for Permission to Study Abroad at the Study Abroad Office. This application is not available online.
  3. Students must complete the Northwestern University Application for Permission to Study Abroad by the specified deadline.
  4. In addition, Arcadia requires students to complete a Program Application.  This application (and specified deadline) can be found on the Arcadia web site.
