Description:

This program explores social and economic development, political reform, regional politics, and religious traditions in the Persian Gulf. The program is based in Oman's capital city of Muscat, a meeting point of Arab, Asian, and African traditions, languages, and cultures. Students choose to focus on political culture or economic development and energy and are taught by local academics, employees from the government and private sectors, and other Omani professionals. The program culminates in an independent study project on a topic of the student's choosing.

Language Requirements

No language prerequisite, but students are required to take an Arabic language class while on the program.

Academic Specialties

The program is best suited for independent and motivated students who are deeply interested in understanding the complexity of Middle East issues and gaining some familiarity with spoken Arabic.
