Description:

Study, work and enjoy life in the city of Calvin, Rousseau and the United Nations. Geneva is a dynamic, cosmopolitan city located on the shores of the beautiful Lac Léman at the foot of the Alps in French-speaking Switzerland. Study with Swiss and international students at the Université de Genève and its affiliated institutes. Students enroll in French-taught university courses with other Swiss and international students and have the option to enroll in French-taught courses at the Smith Center.  Credit-bearing internships are also availalbe.  A three-week orientation at the start of the program will acclimate you to life in Geneva, particularly through language classes, cultural activities, sessions about university life, and health and safety guidelines.

Northwestern Requirements

  • At least 2 years or the equivalent of college-level French
  • Full Year students must take at least 1 regular course at a local university during the Fall Semester and 2 during the Spring Semester.  Students staying for the Fall Quarter only or Winter-Spring Quarters only must take at least 1 regular course. A "regular course" is defined as a course taught in the host language, for local university students (not study abroad students).  This allows students to experience what it is like to be a local university student.

Housing

Students live in apartment-style student residences with other university students. Each student has a single room in a suite with kitchen, baths and common space that is shared with 3 or 6 other students.  Students cook for themselves in the shared kitchens.

This includes the estimated cost of tuition, room, board, books, transportation, personal expenses and SAAF.
