Northwestern Requirements
Two years or equivalent of college-level French, including spring term prior to study abroad. Recommended to take at least one French 300-level course before departure.Program Requirements

Instruction is in French. There is a 4-week orientation in Aix-en-Provence, France; then academic study for the year in Geneva. Direct university enrollment for science and engineering students.Additional Information
Students are normally required to take at least one course in advanced French language.Housing
Most students live in apartment-style student residences with other university students. They cook for themselves in shared kitchens. Students have the option of requesting a home stay where they would have breakfast and dinner prepared for them.Program Costs

Prior to receiving an application, all Northwestern students must complete the following steps:- Complete the mandatory Study Abroad 101 Quiz on Blackboard. Call 847-467-6400 or e-mail studyabroad@northwestern.edu (include your name and netID) to register for this quiz.
- After receiving a score of 90% or above, students can pick up the Northwestern University Application for Permission to Study Abroad at the Study Abroad Office. This application it is not available online.
- Smith program application, along with a supplemental paper application; both are available on the Smith Web Site.
- Northwestern University Application for Permission to Study Abroad.
