Language Requirements

  • Required: 1 year (or the equivalent) of college-level Spanish.
  • If you think you might declare a major or minor in Spanish or Portuguese, either before studying abroad or once you return, meet with a study abroad adviser in the Department before you leave. To arrange an appointment, contact the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at 847-491-8249.

Academic Specialties

Instruction in the Toledo Program is geared toward the intermediate level; students live with local families, receive daily Spanish language instruction by the staff of the Fundacion José Ortega y Gasset, and observe a no-English rule.

Course Type

Intensive language courses and a Spanish art and culture class.
