Full Year students must take at least one regular course at the University during the fall and two during the spring. Integrated university courses and IES Abroad program courses.

Additional Information

About the Terms of Study:
  • The German Department and the Study Abroad Office strongly encourage students to study abroad in Germany for the full year. If students can only study abroad in Germany for one term, we encourage them to do so during the spring semester because they are better prepared in terms of language and they can enroll in regular university courses in Germany.
  • If spring semester is not an option, we encourage students to study abroad on the Antioch-Tübingen program during Northwestern's fall and winter quarters, so that they can enroll in integrated university courses (which run until late January/early February).
  • Students for whom neither of these terms is an option may study abroad during Northwestern's fall quarter only on IES Abroad Freiburg and IES Abroad Berlin.
Note: All IES Abroad programs provide internship opportunities.

Housing

Integrated university housing
