Language Requirements

Students must have completed 2 years+ of college French or the equivalent and have the ability to do coursework in French. Students are required to meet with Prof. Margaret Dempster in the Department of French in order to assess their language skills prior to application.

Northwestern Requirements

When choosing a world-class institution, careful academic counseling and planning is essential to successful integration into non-American settings. Work with the Office of International Program Development and your departmental/school advisers to make issues such as credit, cultural adjustment and course selection work for you. A high degree of independence and initiative are also qualifications for an exchange program, which often offers less structure and on-site support than other types of programs.

Academic Specialties

École Polytechnique is renowned for its training in the physical sciences, engineering and mathematics.  Students need to have a strong background in math, in particular, to succeed.

Course Type

Direct university enrollment for science, math, economics and engineering students.

Additional Information

Admission to École Polytechnique is highly competitive, and students may not know immediately if they are accepted. Therefore, close consultation with the Office of International Program Development is advised.

Housing

École Polytechnique provides residence halls for international and French students.
