Description:

The Royal Academy of Music in London is among the world's premiere music conservatories. The Academy focuses on musical performance, and students' academic coursework is determined on an individual basis in conjunction with an adviser. The flexibility in the program allows students to focus primarily on their performance skills through the mentoring of some of the world's top music faculty and professional performers. Students will take private lessons and participate in ensembles plus enroll in courses in musical analysis and musicology.

All students must audition in either London in December or in Toronto or New York in March.

Application Requirements

Prior to receiving an application, all Northwestern students must complete the following steps:
  1. Complete the mandatory Study Abroad 101 Quiz on Blackboard.  Call 847-467-6400 or e-mail studyabroad@northwestern.edu (include your name and netID) to register for this quiz.
  2. After receiving a score of 90% or above, students can pick up the Northwestern University Application for Permission to Study Abroad at the Study Abroad Office. This application is not available online.
Northwestern students must complete two applications for this program:
  1. RAM program application, due January 8, 2010. This application is available on the RAM web site.
  2. The Northwestern University Application for Permission to Study Abroad due by a special early application deadline of January 8, 2010.
