Oxford University Visiting Student Program

» General Information

Location:

Oxford, England (Population: 122,000)

Description:

Founded in the 10th century, Oxford University is the oldest English-speaking University in the world. While experiencing Oxford's unique tutorial system, you will be able to study in the sciences, social sciences or arts at one of six colleges: St. Anne's, St. Edmund's, Hertford College, Mansfield College, St. Catherine's or Lady Margaret Hall. Each college has its own unique character that has been shaped by centuries of history and tradition. (Please note that placement in a specific Oxford college cannot be guaranteed.)

While the range of courses offered is broad, you are expected to focus on a couple of subjects in depth. Your studies will be driven by your intellectual interests and will require a significant amount of self-motivation and curiosity.

Students meet with tutors and attend lectures for eight weeks a term during three, ten-week terms a year.

  • Students must have completed at least 5-6 courses in the subject they wish to study.
  • Oxford is very competitive, therefore students should indicate a second choice on their application.
  • Co-Curricular Learning Certificate: By participating in a minimum of 15 hours in a variety of learning activities and writing a reflective essay about your  experiences, you can receive a non-credit bearing certificate to accompany your official transcript.
