IES Abroad Vienna: Music Program
Language Requirements
No previous German language study is required for students enrolling in English-taught courses. All students, however, must take at least one German language course or one course taught in German throughout the duration of the program.
*Note that students must have completed at least 2 years (4 semesters) or the equivalent of college-level German in order to qualify for German-taught program courses and University courses.
Northwestern Requirements
Recommended:- If you have already taken two years or the equivalent of college-level German, we encourage you to enroll in at least one regular course at the University each term that you are abroad on this program. A "regular course" is defined as a course taught in the host language, for local university students (not study abroad students).
- We also encourage you to request housing that is integrated with Austrians rather than shared apartments with other program students. This is another way to immerse yourself in Austrian culture.
Program Requirements
- 3.0 GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale) and in good standing at home college or university.
- Sophomore, junior, or senior standing when program begins. Some local university courses may not be available to students of sophomore standing. Please contact your IES Abroad representative for more details.
- See the IES Abroad Vienna Music Program web site for admission requirements for Performance Studies and the Music Performance Workshop.
