Description:

The CIEE Study Center based at Khon Kaen University helps students understand the complexities concerning development and globalization issues, and the role students play as global citizens. Students learn about development and globalization from both an academic and a grassroots community level by combining a set curriculum of classroom-based academics with extensive practical field experience.

Course Type

  • Human Perspective on Development and the Environment
  • Directed Research Field Study/Practicum

  • Thai Language (beginning, intermediate, or advanced)

Additional Information

  • The program is based at Khon Kaen University, the major educational institution in Northeast Thailand, about 300 miles north of Bangkok.
  • Students can expect to spend much of their time traveling and staying in communities.
  • Program participants are paired with Khon Kaen University students for weekly one-on-one Thai language tutorials.

Housing

When not on community visits or in home stays, students live in off-campus rental units with a Thai roommate.
