SIT Uganda: Development Studies

Location:

Kampala, Uganda

Description:

Field-based, experiential learning in SIT program courses, with an independent study component. The program centers on broad issues related to the country's rapid social and economic development but also facilitates deeper study of public health, grassroots development, and gender issues at a variety of organizations or academic departments at Makerere University.

Program Requirements

• Average applicant has a GPA of 3.5.
• Students must have completed at least one year of college-level coursework at time of application.

Academic Specialties

SIT programs are ideal for highly motivated students who embrace cultural challenges and seek the deepest possible immersion in a foreign setting.

• Intensive Language Study: Luganda
• Development Studies Seminar
• Field Study Seminar
• Development Practium (same requirements as an Independent Study Project)
