Description:

Field-based, experiential learning in SIT program courses focused on examining the diverse forces shaping contemporary Moroccan society, with particular emphasis on ethnicity, culture, and human rights.  Students gain or enhance speaking, reading, and writing skills in Modern Standard Arabic, with further language practice of spoken Moroccan Arabic (darija) in homestays, lectures, and field visits.  Language learning also includes an introduction to Berber, the Moroccan Arabic dialect.

Program Requirements

  • Average applicant has a GPA of 3.5.
  • Students must have completed at least one year of college-level coursework at time of application.

Arabic language, culture, and literature; Culture, history, geography, and political economy of a North African nation with cultural roots in Europe and the Middle East.

SIT programs are ideal for highly motivated students who embrace cultural challenges and seek the deepest possible immersion in a foreign setting.
