Description:

Field-based, experiential learning in SIT program courses, with an independent study component. This program focuses on a study of Malagasy society and the domestic and international influences that have shaped its long history as a trade nexus and migratory destination of people from Indonesia, the Arabian Peninsula, and other parts of Africa. The program is based in Antananarivo, the scenic highland capital, and also includes a home stay visit in the scenic city of Mahajanga on the northern tip of the island.

Northwestern Requirements

1 year (the equivalent of 2 recent semesters) of college-level French.

Program Requirements

  • Average applicant has a GPA of 3.5.
  • Students must have completed at least one year of college-level coursework at time of application.
