Description: 

The Journalism Residency Argentina program provides Medill students a unique and exciting opportunity to live and work in South America for 11 weeks while earning 4 NU credits through a set curriculum and completing degree requirements. Reporting and marketing assignments are in Spanish and English. Placements are available in magazine, newspaper/online, broadcast/video and marketing communications.

Requirements: 

Open to Medill BSJ students, in their junior or senior year, who have completed a substantive internship with a reputable media organization, communications firm or related industry before their Journalism Residency placement.

Languages: English, Spanish

Language Requirements: 

Students must have completed any one of the following courses: Spanish 220, 250, 251, 260, 261. Students are also required to complete a language proficiency exam and assessment administered by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Before final placements, students must complete a Spanish language exam with the placement site and receive a satisfactory grade in JOUR 390: Bilingual Journalism during the Fall Quarter prior to their JR.

Housing: 

Furnished apartments in Palermo neighborhood, shared with other students on the program.
