The Rock Distinguished Contribution Award

This award is given to 6-7 (Senior undergraduate and graduate) students who have displayed outstanding leadership through involvement at Northwestern University and have contributed significantly to the advancement of the campus community. They also display congruence in convictions and morals when leading and have an approach that empowers others, serving as a strong role model for his/her peers.

Contributing Student Leader Award

This award is given to 2 upperclassmen students not currently holding an executive board position in a student, community, or work organization. This student demonstrates a tremendous contribution to the success and vitality of an organization, but does not hold a formal leadership role within the organization. This person could be considered an “unsung hero” within the organization.

Emerging Leaders

This award is given to 2 first or second year students not currently holding an executive board position in a student, community, or work organization that demonstrates tremendous leadership potential on or off campus.

Sustainability Advocate

This award is given to a student organization or individual that has demonstrated a commitment to reducing the group’s environmental footprint or otherwise promoting environmental sustainability on campus. Please note that this award is not just limited to sustainability programming or events. Organizations that are not focused specifically on sustainability are also eligible.

Outstanding Innovative Collaboration

This award recognizes at least two groups who have built a meaningful partnership to develop a program or initiative that has positively impacted the Northwestern community. These groups have shown a commitment to relationship building by working collectively towards a common purpose.

  • Sigma Psi Zeta, CARE, & SPEAK for Change: Clothesline Project

Outstanding Community Service Initiative

This award is awarded to an undergraduate student organization that conducted an outstanding one-time community service event on or off campus.

  • Youth Participatory Action Research: Borders & Identities Mentorship Program

Outstanding Theatrical Performance

This award is given to an undergraduate student organization that has produced an outstanding theatrical production. This award recognizes a production that stands out for its artistic value and continues to build upon the great cultural character of Northwestern’s student performing arts scene.

  • WAVE presents R&J

Outstanding Community Partnership

The award is given to an outstanding community partner to recognize support of Northwestern students involved in community service. The community partner could be an organization, school or civic group, or an individual from one of those entities, who has provided opportunities and guidance to Northwestern students as they participate in the community.

  • Books & Breakfast

Outstanding New Student Organization

The award is given to a new (existing no more than two years) undergraduate student organization that has demonstrated outstanding potential toward improving the Northwestern community.

  • Strive for College at NU

Outstanding Undergraduate Organization

This award is given to an undergraduate student organization that has demonstrated outstanding commitment to embracing and improving the Northwestern community.

  • For Members Only

Outstanding Student Employee

This award is given to an undergraduate student who has demonstrated excellence in their work, personal conduct, and commitment by going above and beyond their position within Student Affairs. The student has demonstrated initiative, strong work ethic and dedication to their job.

  • Paulo Andrews: Norris

Outstanding Social Justice Initiative or Advocates

This award is given to a student or student organization that has committed themselves to bridging differences and creating a more engaged and inclusive campus community through meaningful programming and initiatives that facilitate full and equal access to an equitable and inclusive Northwestern experience.

  • Macs Vinson: Black Student Experience Committee, ASG
  • Fei Wang: Sustained Dialogue, Kappa Delta Diversity & Inclusion Chair

Vice President’s Award

This award is selected by Dr. Patricia Telles-Irvin to two students who have demonstrated a deep commitment to improving the Northwestern community in their time as leaders and students.
